You might think that being famous would be an advantage in helping you find romance. Yet, having a familiar face and having people know details about you before you even speak, makes things quite awkward and confusing. Imagine somebody knowing details about your life while you know nothing about them. Celebrities dating must question whether the person across the table is genuinely romantically interested in them, or if they are after something else, like money or fame.

However, many celebrities and rich people are now turning to online dating apps like Luxy for this. Especially because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing social distancing and lockdown measures, online dating has significantly increased in popularity. Celebrity dating apps and sites are increasingly becoming the easier way to meet and date in the world of celebrities.

The Celebrity Dating Game is going viral

This celebrity dating trend was sparked by a new tv show which has gone viral, especially in the United States. The Celebrity Dating Game has 2 single celebrities (per episode) pick from 3 singles to go on a date with, based on different rounds of questions. These celebrities come from a range of media, including feature film and reality TV. The identities between the contestants and the celebrities are hidden. The show, hosted by Zooey Deschanel and Michael Bolton has gained coverage online. It has been deemed cringe-worthy by many online, but in turn, has shown that everyday people can form connections with celebrities.

What are the dating apps that celebrities are using?

Society’s fascination with celebrity dating has spread out across social media too. It is becoming an increasingly popular topic amongst young people. Particularly on Tinder, a dating app for all different types of economic and social backgrounds, people are actively searching for famous people to match with, such as social media influencers. This has become a popular trend on TikTok and has attracted lots of attention.

A TikTok by influencer and model Nivine Jay went viral, as she alleged that she had unmatched with Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, on a dating app. This is a private dating app, where each user must be referred by an existing member and then voted on by a committee, to be accepted. Affleck then messaged her on Instagram with a video asking, “Nivine, why did you unmatch me? It’s me”. The video has had over 8.5 million views and 1.4 million likes, attracting controversy and gossip online.

Yet, celebrity dating is not all unsuccessful and complicated. There are several popular celebrity dating success stories. US Olympic athlete Simone Biles matched with her current boyfriend on a dating app. Biles and Jonathan Owens, a professional American football player, supposedly matched on the celebrity dating site and their romance sparked from there. Demi Lovato, Channing Tatum, and Niall Horan have also been spotted on celebrity dating sites.

Not only is celebrity dating becoming increasingly popular, but it is becoming increasingly easier to match with celebrities. Luxy  is a popular dating site for wealthy and successful singles to find romance and form meaningful relationships. The site claims that 60% of Luxy members have an annual income of over £200,000 . If you fit into this category and want to find others like you, why not give it a try?
